BaGuaZhang is a Chinese martial art developed over a long time period and reached such a high level that it is nowadays recognised as an internal style, effective both for fighting and for the health.

During XianFeng’s reign (1851-1861) in the Qing dynasty, DONG HAICHUAN developed a unique style, based on palms use and he named it Baguazhang, which means “Palm of the Eight Trigrams”.

BaGuaZhang techniques, funded on scientific principles, reached an extremely high quality level. For this reason they were used within the Emperor’s house and kept hidden, never brought outside.

BaGuaZhang is considered the DRAGON STYLE, because of its body roll movements, which remind those of a dragon. Baguazhang studies the movements of eight animals.

Dong HaiChuan had four students: YIN FU, the first of them, who became his successor, Cheng Tinhua, Liu Fengchun e Ma Weiqi.

The best one among YIN FU students was GONG BAOTIAN, who mastered Baguazhang art.

After the end of the Imperial China when the Forbidden City was declared property of the People’s Republic of China, Gong BaoTian left it.

Gong BaoTien’s extraordinary mastery was known by a rich gentlemen, who persuaded him to teach Baguazhang to his young son-in-law WANG ZHUANGFEI.

Wang ZhuangFei spred Baguazhang, teaching to a lot of students all over China.

The descendant of Wang ZhuangFei is his son WHANG HANZHI.

Near Wang ZhuangFei house in Shanghai lived our Master ZHANG DUGAN, who was twelve-year-old at that time. ZHANG DUGAN started practicing BaGuaZhang under Wang HanZhi guidance and he also studied many years with Wang ZhuangFei.

In 2009 Master Wang HanZhi took Master Zhang DuGan  as his First Inner disciple.

During the 1990s Master Zhang Dugan moved to Europe, precisely to Italy, where Luca Mavilia e Vincenzo Spasaro knew him.

On August 13, 2016, during a traditional ceremony called Bai Shi, Master Zhang DuGan  took Inner students (Disciples), who form  nowadays the Baguazhang Seventh generation and have the duty to spread this martial art to the world. Among them, there are Masters Luca Mavilia and Vincenzo Spasaro, who studied hard for about twenty years with Master Zhang DuGan.
